The 4th and 5th of June saw The South of England Koi Show take place down on the south coast, hosted by the South Downs Koi Club.
We'd like to say a massive well done to Mr David Pope for winning Young Adult Champion with his Gin Rin Showa, bred by Yagenji Koi Farm. We selected this koi back in October 2015 on our Autumn Japan trip.
Young Adult Champion in essence is the best koi out of all the size 3 and 4 koi. Including the Gin Rin Showa there was 98 koi. 46 of the 98 koi in these size divisions came from the Kohaku, Sanke or Showa class which generally speaking win the major awards.
An impressive result from an impressive koi! Big Congratulations to David Pope. Fingers crossed this koi continues to improve and compete across the UK.
This koi also won Best Overall Gin Rin.

Here is a video of the koi in Japan last October.

Also a big well done goes to Sue Ravenhill. Always a loyal and hardworking member of the South Downs Koi Club. Two koi we supplied won the following:
Showa:
1st in Size and Variety
3rd Overall in Size 1 (31 koi in size 1)
Doitsu Kohaku:
1st Size 1 Doitsu
3rd Overall Doitsu all sizes.
Both of these koi are from Ogata Koi Farm.

Well done to both David and Sue, all the exhibitors at the show, the South Downs Koi Club and everyone who helped out!
