Grow and Show 2018 Dainichi & Sekiguchi!

With temperatures set to soar this week, ponds are gearing up, becoming more active and Koi keepers are eagerly waiting to add new additions to their ponds.

Along with hundreds of Koi already in the shop for sale, many still in quarantine off-site, and our upcoming Japan trip hunting for Jumbo Tosai. We are offering a great way to build your knowledge of how Koi develop, have some fun, and maybe win a prize or two!

We held a poll on our Facebook group Queni Koi Keepers and surveyed customers in-store as to their preference for what type of koi and budget they would like for a Grow and Show.

We were left with a split decision! So instead of one grow and show, we are running two!

Details below.

Sekiguchi Grow and Show - 1 for £125 or 2 for £200

9 month old Showa measuring around 25cm. Video of the Koi below.

- If you wish to have one koi for £125.00, we will bowl 5 Koi at random, you get to select from those 5. Should you want two koi for £200.00 then we will bowl 10 koi at random. This is to keep it fair for all taking part as not everyone will be able to visit on a particular day.

- The Koi are then photographed, measured and bagged for you to take home.
- In Autumn 2019 we will ask everyone to take photos of their Koi, and a new
measurement.
- Once we have collated all of the entrants. On our Autumn Japan Trip in 2019, Masayuki Sekiguchi will judge the group of Koi and award a winner. This winner will not be based on growth, but is chosen on overall quality. This allows people with unheated ponds a good chance of winning too.

- The Winner will receive a £250.00 voucher to spend in-store or on our website.

Dainichi Grow and Show - £350 each

9 month old Showa and Kohaku measuring 30-35cm. Video of the koi below.

- These are £350.00 each, we will bowl 5 Koi at random. You then get to select from the bowl. This is to keep it fair for all taking part as not everyone will be able to visit on a particular day.

- The Koi are then photographed, measured and bagged for you to take home.
- In Autumn 2019 we will ask everyone to take photos of their Koi, and a new measurement.
- Once we have collated all of the entrants, on our Autumn Japan Trip in 2019. Shigeru Dainichi will judge the Koi and award a winner. This winner will not be based on growth, but is chosen on overall quality. This allows people with unheated ponds a good chance of winning too.

- The prize for the Winner is still to be announced. We aim to source a handful of special Jumbo Tosai on our April 2019 trip to Japan. We will grow these on at the shop and expect them to be 45-55cm by Autumn 2019. One of these will be the prize. Alternatively the prize will be a substantial gift voucher!

If you cannot make the visit to select in store then we are able to send you sample videos to choose from. However, this will only be available from the 3rd of May onwards due to myself being in Japan, using the camera!

Places are limited, so if you do want a sample video sent to you on my return from Japan please get in touch to mike@queni-koi.co.uk. We can then arrange payment and I'll put you on the list.

Good luck in advance to everyone that takes part.

Please keep up to date on our current Japan trip on the blog and facebook.
